Alternative fuel · Sourcing enquiry
Sourcing enquiries for LNG-fuelled vessels, coordinated with Singapore’s MPA-licensed LNG bunker suppliers. Capability, timing and compatibility are confirmed for every enquiry.
LNG bunkering in Singapore is carried out by a limited number of MPA-licensed LNG bunker suppliers, mainly by ship-to-ship transfer from LNG bunkering vessels. SingaporeBunker.com handles LNG as a sourcing and coordination enquiry: we check which licensed supplier can serve the vessel, the quantity and the date, and coordinate the commercial and operational steps. We do not operate LNG bunkering vessels.
Liquefied natural gas is used by dual-fuel container ships, car carriers, tankers, bulk carriers and cruise ships. It virtually eliminates sulphur oxide emissions and greatly reduces particulate matter and nitrogen oxides, which is why it has become the leading alternative fuel by fleet size. Singapore’s LNG bunker sales passed 460,000 tonnes in 2024, according to the MPA.
LNG bunkering is very different from conventional bunkering. It involves cryogenic liquid at around −162°C, boil-off gas management, ship-to-ship compatibility studies, and safety zones during transfer. Each operation needs more preparation and more lead time than a VLSFO stem.
Sourcing enquiry, not confirmed capability. Submitting an LNG enquiry does not mean supply is available. We confirm supplier capability, LNG bunkering vessel scheduling, quantity, location and compatibility before any offer is made.
Specifications
LNG for marine fuel is outside ISO 8217. Quality is described by composition (methane, ethane, heavier hydrocarbons, nitrogen), methane number, density and calorific value. ISO 23306 sets out a specification for LNG as a marine fuel, and engine makers state minimum methane numbers for their engines.
LNG deliveries are often priced and measured on an energy basis, for example in MMBtu, as well as in mass. The measurement method, custody transfer system and the treatment of vapour return should be agreed in the contract.
Before the first delivery, the receiving vessel and the LNG bunkering vessel normally complete a compatibility assessment covering manifold arrangements, mooring, hose or arm connections, emergency shutdown links and communication. Operations follow agreed checklists and the port’s safety requirements.
Vessel applications
Large liner vessels with membrane or Type B LNG fuel tanks.
PCTCs, crude and product tankers built for LNG dual-fuel operation.
LNG-fuelled bulkers on long-haul trades calling Singapore.

Procurement & delivery
If the vessel also needs conventional fuel, such as MGO pilot fuel, include it in the same enquiry. See all marine fuels or our vessel and supplier coordination service.
We handle LNG as a sourcing and coordination enquiry. The LNG is delivered by MPA-licensed LNG bunker suppliers. We confirm whether a supplier can serve your vessel before any offer is made.
Considerably more than for conventional fuels. LNG bunkering vessel capacity is limited and first deliveries require compatibility work, so enquire as early as possible.
LNG bunkers are commonly priced on an energy basis, such as per MMBtu, though mass-based pricing is also used. The basis is stated on the offer.
Give us the vessel, quantity, ETA and technical details. We will tell you honestly what licensed LNG suppliers can do.
